Day 8 Santa Barbara to San Diego via LA We got a fairly early start from Santa Barbara and headed on our way to San Diego. We made a detour through Hollywood and Beverly Hills with a cruise down Rodeo Drive. We did not see any stars but we did see some very fancy cars! We made sure to see the Hollywood sign on the side of the hill just so the kids could say they saw it. We also saw 2 bums get in a brawl on Santa Monica Blvd. over who had rights to the median. So we got a little of everything on our little jaunt into LA.
On we went to Aunt Cheri Vanderstelt's house for lunch and a visit with her and Andrew, Kristen, Tyler, & Hayden. We had delicious White Chicken Chili, which I need to get the recipe from Cheri, and a good time of catching up with the Vanderstelt clan. With full tummies, we hit "the 5" south to San Diego.
After some harrowing traffic, we found our hotel, got settled, and then headed out for dinner at In & Out Burger. We each used our gift card from the Bergtholds and enjoyed a yummy burger and truly Californian experience. That place was jammed! After dessert at Cold Stone Creamery, it was back to the hotel and bed. Ahhh . . . it was good to hit the pillow.
